Oil terminal and refinery hit by Ukrainian drone strikes

Ukrainian media has confirmed that Taganrog oil terminal and an Ilksy oil refinery in Azov, Rostov region, both situated in Russia, were struck in a drone attack on 10 July.

Preliminary reports show that fuel tanks caught fire at the Kurgannefteprodukt oil terminal in Taganrog, a major target due to its role in storing and transshipping Russian petroleum products onto vessels. Ilsky refinery has a capacity of around 138,000bpd and has been attacked before due to its importance to the Russian fuel market.

Andrii Kovalenko, head of Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation, wrote on Telegram: ‘Ilsky refinery, oil infrastructure, the port in Taganrog – the Defense Forces of Ukraine continue to systematically take out Russia’s oil sector, logistics and economy.’
