Technip Energies has announced it has been selected by electric vehicle supply chain company, Livista Energy Europe to deliver the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase for its first European lithium chemical refinery.

The refinery, located in Germany, will accept all sources of raw lithium materials as feedstock.

Technip Energies says: ‘We are committed to supporting our client’s ambition in this exciting project, which will both contribute to the decarbonisation of the European automotive industry and help fill a critical gap in Europe’s lithium-ion battery supply chain.’

Production is set to begin in 2026 with an annual output of 40,000 metric tonnes.
