BASF ends ammonia production in Germany

Chemicals producer, BASF has announced they are ending ammonia and associated fertiliser production in the German city of Ludwigshafen due to high production and energy costs.

BASF seeks to cut costs by €500 million per year from 2024 by moving production to Belgium, the US and Asia. This is estimated to result in 2,600 jobs losses.
