Uniper appoints new CEO

Michael Lewis has started at Uniper as the company’s new CEO. The appointment was announced at Uniper’s AGM on 24 May. On August 1, Carsten Poppinga will also start as Uniper’s new chief commercial officer (CCO), seamlessly taking over from Niek den Hollander, who will step down as announced on July 31.

In a LinkedIn post, the company expressed its sincere gratitude to CFO, Dr. Jutta Dönges and COO, Holger Kreetz for their outstanding contributions during the interim period that has ensured a smooth transition. The statement says: ‘With his extensive experience and expertise, we are confident that Michael will lead us to new heights in our journey of sustainable business development. In recognition of the strategic importance of sustainability, he will also assume the role of Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO). His combined leadership in both roles will ensure that sustainability remains at the core of Uniper’s business strategy.’
