Vopak and Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the development of a CCS value chain in southeast Asia.

As part of the agreement, both companies will study the development of the CCS value chain focusing on the carbon emitted by industries in Singapore. This will include carbon transport from a Vopak terminal for potential injection into the regional storage hubs developed by Petronas. The collection of carbon emissions from different emitters in southeast Asia is also part of the feasibility study.

Chris Robblee, president of Vopak Asia & Middle East says: ‘We are excited about this project with our long-term partner Petronas to jointly collaborate. This is well aligned with our commitment to support the energy transition through the development of carbon infrastructure for sustainable energy solutions and the decarbonisation of the industry.’
