BP America's Cherry Point Refinery in Washington State, USA, will soon begin producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using renewable biomass feedstocks. This is thanks to a federal grant of $26.8 million (€24.2 million) awarded under a programme authored by US Senator Maria Cantwell, chair of the Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee.
BP estimates being able to produce 10 million gallons of SAF per year, helping to supply local airports with a cleaner fuel alternative.
