A blast at a petroleum products storage facility in Moezelweg, Europoort, the Netherlands on Thursday 13 August at around 11:30 CEST has killed one person and wounded six others, according to a report from Reuters.
Major energy commodities trading company Gunvor reported an ‘incident’ occurred during maintenance on one of its storage tanks. Initial police reports found no immediate evidence of sabotage and investigations are ongoing.
Power outages were reported elsewhere in the port, but Rotterdam Port has confirmed there is no connection between the explosion and these outages.
