MB Energy and SET Select Energy collaborate on ammonia import terminal

MB Energy has signed the first term sheet for capacity booking for its planned ammonia import terminal in Hamburg-Blumensand, Germany with SET Select Energy at the World Hydrogen Summit, Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The agreement highlights MB Energy’s commitment to establishing international supply chains for future-orientated energy carriers, as well as strengthens Hamburg’s position as a future hub for renewable ammonia imports. The proposed terminal will begin commercial operations in 2029, with SELECT expected to become a customer of the terminal and bring renewable fuels of non-biological origin (RFNBO) ammonia to Hamburg. Its RFNBO ammonia will be produced by Juno Joule Green Energy at the NTPC Green Energy’s green hydrogen site in Pudimadaka, India.

MB Energy states: ‘As two Hamburg-based companies, MB Energy and SELECT share the ambition of enabling large-scale import of future-oriented energy carriers and of supporting the energy transition through long-term collaboration.’
