Natftogaz to test hydrogen storage

Naftogaz, a Ukrainian state owned oil and gas company, has plans to begin testing the possibility of storing hydrogen in underground facilities.

Roman Kokhtiuk, chief engineer of JSC Ukrtransgaz, says: ‘Ukrtransgaz has a number of memorandums with European underground gas storage operators, which have been moving in this direction for several years and have actually come to test the reality of the capabilities of the equipment and reservoir for hydrogen storage.’

The war has made certain adjustments to this plan, but it is expected that Naftogaz will soon begin the implementation of this project.
