Ivens raises first tank roof at new GTS terminal

Ivens has celebrated the raising of the first tank roof at the new terminal for Ghent Transport & Storage (GTS), situated at the Port of Ghent, Belgium.

This milestone is the latest in the construction of 17 4,400m3 storage tanks for GTS, led by Ivens. GTS has an overall capacity of 1.7 million m3, offering infrastructure including internal floating roofs, vapour recovery unit, insulated and heated storage, nitrogen blanketing, in-tank homogenisation, and in-tank and in-line blending and additivation.

Jonathan Feys, chief commercial officer – liquid bulk terminals at GTS, says in a LinkedIn post: ‘[The roof raising marks] a major milestone and a visible sign that our ambitions are steadily becoming reality. Large-scale projects are not built by steel and concrete alone; they are built by people who make a difference every day through expertise, teamwork and a commitment to safe execution. A sincere thank you to the entire Ivens team and all partners contributing to this project. We look forward to reaching the next milestones together.’

Ivens replied in a LinkedIn post: ‘Words that make us proud! The successful lifting of the first tank roofs marks another important milestone in the construction of 17 new storage tanks for GTS. A big thank you to Jonathan Feys and the GTS team for the trust and teamwork!’
