A fuel storage terminal in Robeston West, Milford Haven, UK, used for storing and distributing petroleum products, will stop commercial operations at the end of 2026 after failing to sign a new contract.

The infrastructure, which was formerly owned by Puma Energy and sits on an old oil refinery site, is currently owned by Impala Terminals. The company cited ‘the wider global geopolitical backdrop, fuel market economics and customer demands’ for reasons of closure. After ceasing operations, the site will enter a wind-down phase, which includes an 18-24-month demobilisation and decommissioning period.

The site also suffered a fire in July of this year, where one person suffered minor injuries.

A spokesperson for Impala comments: ‘We have worked hard to avoid this, but sadly there is no economic alternative … [the company is] conscious of the history of the site and [has] launched a review to assess future uses for it … [while] the review does not solve the present issue, [it] aims to preserve the site’s legacy for future generations.’
