Oncorp to build LNG

Brazilian holdings, energy service and production company, Oncorp, has been selected to build a regasification terminal at Suape port in Pernambuco. This will be used by Shell to supply imported natural gases to state-controlled distributor Copergas.

Oncorp were chosen to install the terminal from five other bids by the Pernambuco state government, who controls the port. The Pernambuco government believes that the terminal could become the LNG hub for northeastern Brazil.

The project includes a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) and is set to require R220 million (€43.2 million) in investments. Once complete, it will have the capacity to import 4 million to 9 million m³ of natural gas per day.
