The operator of Germany’s onshore LNG terminal is suing the European Commission for approving state subsidies for a rival terminal, the Hanseatic Energy Hub (HEH) have reported.

HEH, a private corporation of companies working without subsidies, is suing against the European Commission at the EU court, as the Brussels authority approved subsidies provided by the German government to a competitor project in Brunsbüttel.

Germany wants to use LNG due to the loss of Russian gas supplies. Previously, Berlin had depended on Russian gas, but have sought alternatives after the Russia and Ukraine war.
