PRIO, in partnership with ISQ, has announced the delivery of the first PRIO certificates that prove the consumption and respective reductions in CO2 emissions associated with the use of green fuels.

In a first phase, the first certificates were delivered to ten customers at the end of 2024. PRIO is now expanding this delivery to all customers who purchased green fuels throughout 2024. The certificates independently validated by ISQ, which ensures the accuracy and technical rigor of the data presented. Among the first customers to receive the certificates are reference transport companies in Portugal, such as TJA and Paulo Duarte.

Carlos Baptista, commercial director of Prio Green says: ‘This is an important milestone for PRIO and our customers. It represents the recognition of the sustainable choices that our customers make every day and proves, with full transparency, the positive impact of these choices on the reduction of CO2 emissions.’

ISQ’s action consisted of benchmarking the calculation methodologies, validating the sources of information and applying the calculation methodology to determine the reduction of GHG emissions. It also developed, for each PRIO customer, the declaration model for communicating the result of this reduction, based on their consumption.

‘ISQ’s performance in this process not only lends credibility to the information presented by PRIO, but also contributes to a continuous improvement of the sector’s good practices, promoting the transparency and reliability of data related to the incorporation of biofuels and their respective GHG emissions’ adds Maria Manuel Farinha, head of the environment department of sustainability and safety at ISQ.
