Shell is building a 200 megawatt electrolyser, in the Maasvlakte port area in the Netherlands. It was announced on LinkedIn that hydrogen plant, named the Holland Hydrogen 1, will help make the factories of Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rotterdam, among others, more sustainable.

The electrolyser will eventually be connected to the Amaliahaven high-voltage substation. Construction of this station will start this week and will be completed by the end of 2026.

In order to provide Shell with a timely connection, the electrolyser will first be connected to the Maasvlakte high-voltage substation.
