As the sister publication for StocExpo, we might be slightly biased when we say that StocExpo 2024 was a huge success – but that’s no exaggeration. Readers will surely know by now that StocExpo 2024 took place on 12 & 13 March at the Rotterdam Ahoy this year, and the event was well-attended by a range of terminal managers, operators, CEOs and more from across the globe.
Taking place across just two days for the first time ever, the Euro Tank Terminal tour was a highly popular attraction on day zero, leaving many visitors and delegates wanting more, and keen to hear commercial manager Frans Jan Hellenthal speak on day two of the event.

The expo floor was chock-full of exhibitors showcasing their latest innovations, taking client meetings, and offering advice on how they can help terminals navigate the energy transition. Many exhibitors had the opportunity to present in-life case studies of their products working on site to a rapt audience at both conference stages across the two-day event.
New for this year, StocExpo highlighted exhibitors working towards the energy transition with a special Future Fuels Trail that visitors could follow around the show floor. Plus, the Collaboration Zone enabled intimate meetings with new exhibitors and key clients.
The FETSA Tank Storage conference was a huge hit yet again, with standing-room only at many of the sessions. Particular highlights included Advario Belgium’s vice president, Nancy de Groof’s presentation on the company’s pivot towards developing forward-looking projects, particularly in the chemical heart of Europe.
Amit Rao from S&P Global and Mark Waddington from Channoil Energy both delivered presentations on the state of the oil and gas market, with focuses on different trade flows, and the future of the industry in light of new and emerging fuels.
Meanwhile, in the Terminal Operations and Safety Conference, safety was the name of the game. The tank Storage Association’s Peter Davidson chaired a well-attended panel session featuring terminal professionals from Advario Singapore, Oikos Storage, Oliudreifing and joined by Assentech Sales.
The Global Tank Storage Awards celebrated excellence in the tank storage industry and were a key highlight this year – selling out over a week before the event! Watch this space for our exclusive interview series with the gold winners, and congratulations to all the finalists. The next day, the industry gathered to celebrate its rising stars, with the presentation of the StocExpo Forty Under 40. You can read the full list here.
As well as celebrating rising stars, StocExpo and Tank Storage Magazine are always keen to support women in the industry. This year’s Women in Tanks panel was no exception, featuring terminal professionals from Advario, North Sea Port, VOTOB Academy and Vopak. Frank, insightful and, at times, difficult conversations were had, with valuable contributions coming from the audience too.

To round out the day, the conversation turned to the terminal of the future. With drones, robotics and AI being a key focus on the Terminal Operations and Safety stage, the FETSA stage looked more towards the energy transition worldwide and terminals reaching net-zero, with contributions from LBC Rotterdam’s Mathias Potvin and GRESB’s David Tassadogh, to name a few. The conversation was engaging and cantered on emissions reporting, digital strategy and the industry as a whole.
Overall, StocExpo was not an event to miss if you’re a tank storage or energy infrastructure professional – with full conference sessions all day, every day, as well as a sold-out awards show to celebrate excellence in the industry.
