ADNOC has signed an agreement with Revterra to trial a novel kinetic battery technology to support ADNOC’s efforts to advance climate technology solutions. The first-of-its-kind unit will be piloted at ADNOC Distribution’s E2GO EV charging hub in Masdar City, Abu Dhabi, and used for electric vehicle charging, reinforcing our commitment to building sustainable infrastructure, powering the future of mobility in the UAE.

Unlike conventional batteries, kinetic battery technology uses recycled steel and rotational energy storage technology that enables high-speed charging with minimal environmental impact. There is potential to use 100% locally sourced UAE steel and to generate associated industrial opportunities and local employment. This trial underscores our commitment to innovation – to decarbonise, diversify our energy sources, and to achieve Net-Zero by 2045.
