Mott MacDonald has secured a contract to construct a new oil terminal in Iraqi Kurdistan.
The company was appointed by Qaiwan Group to provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the next Xarajyan terminal, which will handle petroleum products including petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, kerosene, fuel oil and LPG.
Mott MacDonald will design the first phase of the 140,800 m3 storage terminal, auxiliary utilities and infrastructure facilities at Xarajyan. The consultancy will also provide interface and procurement engineering services and will assist with pre-fabrication, construction and assembly engineering. Construction management will be delivered through a separate contract.
Albert Allan, MD of Mott MacDonald’s oil and gas business, says: ‘The new Xarajyan oil terminal will provide much needed storage capacity for petroleum products, help meet local demand and potentially support the transfer of products to Turkey.’
The terminal is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2018.
