Burckhardt Compression, a global leader in reciprocating compressor technology and systems, has secured a major equipment order for a new chemicals storage facility in the TA’ZIZ Industrial Chemicals Zone, located in Al Ruwais Industrial City, Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The storage facility is part of the TA’ZIZ ecosystem, a joint venture between ADNOC and ADQ, which when fully operational in 2028 will produce 4.7 million tonnes of chemicals, including ammonia, methanol and PVC.

The contract was awarded through Rotary Engineering Limited, the appointed EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) contractor for the terminal storage facilities.

Burckhardt Compression’s scope of supply includes a fully integrated ammonia Boil-Off Gas (BOG) reliquefaction solution tailored to meet the highest operational and environmental standards. Key components of the package include:

  • Three Laby 4K165-3 Compressors, renowned for their oil-free technology, long mean time between overhauls, and optimal performance in demanding gas applications, ensuring highest ammonia purity.
  • A complete BOG reliquefaction system, developed in partnership with refrigeration specialist Clauger Technofrigo, including recondensers and economisers.
  • Integrated process control and instrumentation systems, enabling seamless, fully automated plant operation.
  • The PROGNOST-NT system, an advanced online monitoring and diagnostic tool that supports predictive maintenance and maximizes uptime.

Andreas Brautsch, president Systems Division, Burckhardt Compression says: ‘We are proud to be selected for this pioneering project. The order reflects Burckhardt Compression’s strategic focus on delivering comprehensive solutions in key markets that address global energy challenges.’
