Cyann Fielding sat down with Neil Pearson, senior scientist at Eddyfi Technologies to discuss the company’s silver award for emerging technology, which they received at the Tank Storage Awards in 2022.

Eddyfi’s cutting-edge Surface Topology Air-gap Reluctance Sensors (STARS) is a unique and patented technology that enables the FloormapX Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) array tank floor scanner to differentiate between top-side and bottom-side corrosion and report on each separately.

In lead up to the 2023 global Tank Storage Awards in March, Neil Person discusses Eddyfi’s experience of winning the award.

Cyann: Why did you enter the awards?

Neil: The Global Tank Storage Awards provides a great platform for key stakeholders in the industry to celebrate achievements like this and get recognised for differentiators who go above and beyond.

Cyann: What does it mean to your company to win?

Neil: Winning the emerging technologies silver award for our STARS technology reconfirms its place in the tank storage market, especially for improving safety and environmental issues.

Cyann: Why is it important to gain this recognition?

Neil: Given Tank Storage Magazine’s authority in the industry, it was important for us to be acknowledged as a leading NDT inspection solutions provider and push the boundaries of what is possible. So, investing in complementary technologies such as STARS shows that there are ways to enhance the inspection and assist the human in making decisions for a safe working environment.

Cyann: What do you plan to do next?

Neil: Eddyfi Technologies is an agile company with heavy research and development, so we are continuously innovating to provide the next generation of asset management solutions. We recommend checking out our website, eddyfi.com, to see our current offerings.

Cyann: And finally, any advice for people entering the awards this year?

Neil: In my opinion, keep focusing on human and environmental safety at the core. It makes everyone a winner in that case. Demonstrating and understanding the anticipation of the industry also helps as well.

Cyann: That’s great, thank you, Neil.
