Vitol has announced that Jeffrey van Geloof has been appointed CEO of WPU.

In a post on LinkedIn, Vitol noted that Jeffrey has extensive commercial and operational experience, most recently as managing director of Vitol’s VPR refinery, based in Rotterdam, where he has been instrumental in bringing about significant technical innovation and efficiency to the operation of the refinery. These improvements have substantially reduced the refinery’s environmental impact resulting in, 40% reduction in energy consumption, 50% reduction in NOx refinery emissions, 80% reduction in SO2 refinery emissions, and a leading processing carbon intensity of 3.5kgCO2e/bbl refined vs a global average of 40kg. These reductions have been achieved alongside a 25% increase in production.

Geloof adds: I am excited by the opportunity to use my experience to be involved at the cutting edge of waste plastic recycling, focusing on innovation and scale to underpin the possibility of a circular plastics system. As we move forward, my focus will be on building upon the strong foundation already in place and creating sustainable growth for the future. I look forward to working alongside our talented team, partners, and stakeholders to achieve our shared vision. I would also like to thank WPU’s former CEO Niels Bagge and founding Shareholders for building this foundation from their vision, and their commitment to the energy transition, to make it what it is today.’
