TGE has released an update on the construction work at INEOS Project One’s Antwerp, Belgium, site.

TGE is constructing a tank roof for the 197,000 m³ ethylene tank. The tank roof will be covered by a total of 4,000 m³ of concrete. Given its vast size, TGE is applying the concrete in two equal layers – with the first layer having been successfully completed. To support the weight of the wet concrete during this phase, TGE pressurised the tank from the inside until the concrete was sturdy enough to hold its own weight.

The company says: ‘As we speak, we’re gearing up to pour the second layer, which we’ve divided into nine sections to ensure the concrete’s surface is finished to perfection. This task will span several weeks and we’re aiming to wrap it up by the early summer of 2025.’ Once the concrete dome roof is in place, TGE will move to install the top structures, including steel, piping, and electrical works.
