TotalEnergies has lifted force majeure on its $20 billion (€17.1 billion) Mozambique LNG project, after four years of suspension,

Located in Cabo Delgado, the project includes offshore gas development and a two-train liquefaction facility designed to produce 13 million tonnes per year. Originally halted in 2021 due to regional security threats, the restart follows significant progress in stability and negotiations with the Mozambican government.

Costs have risen by an estimated $4 billion (€3.4 billion), but the project is now set to deliver major economic and employment gains, with over 20,000 direct and indirect jobs expected during construction and operation.

For Mozambique, this marks a pivotal moment in its transformation into a global LNG supplier. For TotalEnergies, it reinforces its commitment to long-term energy investment in emerging markets.
