Uniper has partnered with British Salt to explore potential UK hydrogen storage development, the company announced on LinkedIn.

The Salinae Hydrogen Storage project is a potential salt cavern hydrogen storage facility, near Warmingham in Cheshire, UK. British Salt owns the mineral rights and has existing operations on the site. The two companies have recently signed a feasibility development agreement which gives Uniper the sole rights to explore the site’s potential for hydrogen storage.

Along with existing gas storage, this project has the potential to play a key role in ensuring a secure and flexible energy system in the UK.
