VIDA bioenergy has commissioned its first biogenic CO₂ recovery and liquefaction facility at its Glentham site in the United Kingdom. This achievement marks an important step in the sustainable production of biogenic CO₂ and supports future opportunities for its long-term sequestration.

The Glentham plant is a 60 GWh-per-year biomethane production facility that processes agricultural crops and residues to produce biomethane, which is injected directly into the UK’s high-pressure National Transmission System. With the addition of the new CO₂ liquefaction unit, VIDA bioenergy now recovers the other major component of biogas, high-purity biogenic carbon dioxide, for use in industrial, food, and beverage applications.

Robert Richards, VIDA bioenergy UK general manager, says: ‘We are pleased to have safely and smoothly commissioned the company’s first liquid CO₂ plant. Our biogenic CO₂ is already going to customers, including well-known beverage and brewing names.’

Lars Boetje, VIDA bioenergy CEO, adds: ‘Biogas CO₂ capture delivers exceptional value – and Glentham proves it. It’s the model for tomorrow’s VIDA bioenergy plants.’
