Sri Lanka’s government has given the green light to the construction of three new storage tanks at the Muthurajawela terminal. The project will be a joint venture between M/s Indo-East Engineering & Construction and Ceylex Engineering, and funded by Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals.
The project contract is worth Rs. 2.8 billion (€2.5 million) and will involve building two storage tanks with 15,000m3 capacity and one tank with 10,000m3.
Nalinda Jayatissa, minister of health and mass media, says: ‘The recommendations and conditions prescribed by the Central Environmental Authority have been incorporated into the contract agreement for the procurement. The procurement process has begun for the construction of three additional tanks with a total capacity of 40,000m3 at the Muthurajawela terminal.’
