Thomas de Boer takes over as president director of Shell Netherlands
Under Everts’ leadership, Shell Netherlands began construction on one of Europe’s largest green hydrogen plants, and made progression on new energies with Shell’s fourth offshore wind farm and the roll-out of the charging stations network. Affordable and available energy has also been a focus. He says: ‘I look back on the past years at Shell Netherlands with pride and satisfaction. Our role in the Dutch energy supply and the energy transition cannot be underestimated. We keep the Netherlands warm, in business and on the move. Here, we have the knowledge, capital and partners here to make the energy transition a success. I am confident that Thomas de Boer, with his experience and background, will play an important role in this.’
De Boer is currently vice president of Biogas at Shell, and has previously held commercial and operational management positions at Shell in Rotterdam, London and San Francisco. Notably, de Boer was responsible for the integration of biomethane producer Nature Energy into the company in 2023. De Boer comments: ‘I see tremendous opportunities for Shell, for the Netherlands and for Dutch industry. A sustainable industry and a reliable energy supply are crucial for the transition and for our strategic independence as a country. As Shell, we have an important role to play here, and I am committed to contributing to this in the years ahead.’
