Women in Tanks: Kathy Stewart

Vopak’s vice president for operations and technology in North America, Kathy Stewart, shares her story in the tank storage industry Kathy Stewart started her career in upstream oil and gas operations. She was looking for ways to grow and new opportunities to learn and develop her skills when a recruiter approached her for a terminal manager role at Vopak. ‘I was looking for an opportunity that would allow me to expand my knowledge of the energy industry as well as open up global opportunities,’ she says. ‘The recruiter introduced me to Vopak and the tank storage industry, and I accepted the position in Houston, Texas.’ Operations & Optimisation After beginning as a terminal manager four years ago, Stewart has since moved up to become the vice president for operations and technology across Vopak’s USA and Canada business units. This new role aligns with her interest in operations and optimisation: ‘I have always enjoyed [that] side of my career and like that I have continued working in those areas in the tank storage industry,’ she says.
