Technip Energies was awarded the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning (EPCC) contract for a new Melamine Plant at Gurun, Malaysia, by Petronas Chemicals Fertiliser Kedah in February 2022. In a post on LinkedIn, the company provided an update on the progress of the project.

Technip Energies has made significant progress in the installation of key equipment, including the crystallizer and hydrolyzer. The team has demonstrated its commitment to safety, reaching 2.4 million safe man-hours by the end of 2023. Technip Energies is committed to delivering a new plant that will utilise advanced melamine technology and existing interconnections with the existing urea plant to minimize its CO2 footprint.

Apart from progress on the plant, the project team demonstrated its commitment to the local community by sponsoring the installation of the town signage for Gurun. This was launched in a special ceremony in October 2023.
