ADNOC has made the final investment decision for its Ruwais LNG project, the company announced on LinkedIn. Ruwais LNG will be the first LNG facility in the MENA region to be powered by clean energy.

As one of the world’s lowest-carbon intensity LNG plants, the project underscores ADNOC’s commitment to delivering a key fuel in support of both the energy transition and global energy security. The total capacity will be 9.6 million tonnes of LNG per annum (mtpa) – which is enough to power every household in the City of London for more than two years. In total, ADNOC’s UAE LNG production capacity will stand at 15 mtpa, more than doubling the current number.

With the first cargo on target for 2028, Ruwais LNG is also set to strengthen the dynamic industrial ecosystem in Al Dhafra, generating jobs and fostering community development.
