On 14 June VTTI’s ETA Amsterdam terminal celebrated a full year without any recordable incidents. Jaap K, SVP & Head of Country for the Netherlands, celebrated this achievement, putting it down to a combination of teamwork and communication. ‘I am incredibly proud of my team and what we’ve achieved in a year. Safety is our first priority at all times. We couldn’t have reached this milestone without everyone’s commitment to continuously work on our safety standards,’ he says.

Patrick Groenendijk, HSE Manager VTTI Netherlands adds: ‘Since May 2023 we have been putting more focus and attention on safety by for example reinforcing the importance of the Life-Saving Rules and building in safety moments during meetings. These were some of the many important initiatives we put in place that really helped us drive our safety performance.’

Groenendijk emphasized that good safety performance truly requires teamwork and proactive and consistent communication. Creating an environment where people aren’t afraid to ask questions or where feedback is provided to peers with respect, compassion and care, has had a positive impact on the safety performance in Amsterdam.
