Implico’s terminal management system OpenTAS has now received a certificate for the latest Excise Movement and Control System (EMCS) version 2.4.

Implico downstream experts have adapted the software to the latest customs requirements. OpenTAS was certified after Implico IT experts were able to process the necessary customs test cases without any problems.

ECMS is an electronic movement and control system used when goods, such as petroleum products, are transported within the EU without excise duty. OpenTAS allows fully automatic loading of tank farms with a simultaneous customs declaration. When a driver enters a tank farm, OpenTAS transmits the expected shipping information to customs. If approved, the driver can fill the truck. This avoids unauthorised transports and uncecessary loading. When the truck leaves the site, OpenTAS transmits the quantity of product loaded to customs. All documentation is printed for the driver.

‘The complete integration of the EMCS functionalities in OpenTAS shortens the loading processes in the terminals significantly, ensures smooth loading, minimises traffic on the site and saves employees a lot of effort,’ says Implico.

Implico says it has now begun to adapt its customer systems in refineries and tank farms that want to use the fully integrated customs clearance in the future.
