Swiss inspection specialist firm the ROSEN Group has introduced the new TBIT Ultra Service for the inspection of aboveground storage tanks.

The company says that its new technology can find, quantify and report defects as small as 10% wall loss, including pitting corrosion defects. Early detection and repair of such defects that worsen over time, like corrosion, allows tanks to remain in service for longer, and can extend the length of time required until the next inspection. It exceeds the inspection compliance requirements in the industry standards EEMUA159 and API653.

The TBIT Ultra device has 360˚ steering and can inspect annular plates, sketch plates and areas close to the plate welds, maximising coverage of the tank bottom. It is suitable for use in restricted areas.

ROSEN says that the state-of-the-art TBIT Ultra service is based on its most innovative technology and is backed by the expertise of its multidisciplinary engineering and integrity management teams.
