TWTG says that its NEON valve and temperature sensors have now meet all explosion safety requirements for the US and Canada, having received FM Approval.

FM Approval was granted after approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for the for the LoRaWAN 915 MHz radio, which the NEON range uses.

NEON sensors, which were developed in collaboration with Vopak, are now certified for use in Europe, Singapore, Canada and the US.

The valve sensors monitor whether valves in storage terminals and refineries are open or closed, which were previously monitored by in-person inspection. The position of the valves is transmitted by LoRaWAN to a monitoring dashboard. This is safer for staff, saves time and lowers maintenance costs.

The temperature sensors are mainly used on storage tanks and transfer pipes, and again send the information by LoRaWAN. They are powered by an A-size battery with a lifespan of up to five years.
