LNG ship on the waterThe Colombo-based Sunday Times has reported that the Sri-Lankan government has cancelled the tender awarded to Engro, China-Pakistan consortium, and give it to Indian company, Petronet LNG.

The China-Pakistan consortium was selected last year as part of a step towards reducing the cost of power production.

The decision was made after the award of the contract was strongly objected by India.

There are concerns that this action will hold back future investors and contracts from the country.
