Europe’s Industrial Decline Fears Grow as Policy Gaps Spur 65% Dissent
Despite Europe’s deep political commitments to net zero, 65% of industry executives surveyed by the Energy Industries Council (EIC) say poor policy and governance are putting the region’s competitiveness at risk. Just 59% of continental energy companies reported revenue growth in 2024, the lowest rate among all global regions surveyed in the EIC’s ninth annual Survive & Thrive report. ‘Europe has the net zero vision but not the execution,’ says Stuart Broadley, CEO of the EIC, the world’s leading trade association for companies providing products and services to the energy industry. ‘Without cheaper energy and faster approvals, it will keep […]

Cool Sorption: Tackling Ghost Vapours
The experts at Cool Sorption (part of the Diamond Key International Group) examine the often-overlooked challenges marine terminals face when handling returned vapours from ships; that may contain residues from previous cargoes Most vapour recovery units (VRUs) on fuel terminals for trucks benefit from consistently receiving vapours with a well-defined composition, typically sourced from known truck deliveries. However, this is often not the case at marine loading terminals. Unlike some crude oil operations where vessels are dedicated, most marine terminals receive vapours from a wide variety of carriers, each transporting a diverse range of products. These products fall into several […]

Endress+Hauser: Factory Calibration For Long-Term Accuracy
Dependable factory calibration saves time during commissioning and provides better accuracy assurance than field calibration, says Daniel Hoy, Endress+Hauser Since the dawn of human history, trade has been an essential part of the social construct, and every fair exchange depends on mutually agreed and fulfilled measures of goods. In trade industries, especially in the custody transfer of petroleum goods, weights and measures play a fundamental role for accurate transactions of money and products. Instruments quantify conditions in all controlled applications, and measurement accuracy directly impacts revenue streams, product quality, and operational safety. While the first modern legislative enforcements for weights […]
