LNGPH plans ₱6 billion storage expansion

LNGPH is planning to build a third LNG storage tank at its Ilijan facility, situated in Batangas, the Philippines.

The company will invest ₱6 billion (€84.7 million) into a tank that will add between 100,000-180,000m3 of storage capacity to the site, supporting the company’s move to permanent, land-based storage, rather than relying on floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs). Two storage units, each with a capacity of 60,000m3, have already been commissioned, with the three tanks being utilised alongside an existing FSRU chartered from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.

Yari Miralao, LNGPH president and CEO, comments: ‘We’re looking at the third tank – a third tank offering about 18 days of storage. The investment is close to $100 million, or ₱6 billion. Construction period is anywhere from 36 to 42 months. We’ve installed two onshore tanks, having 60,000m3 each. What does that mean? Whereas in the past we used to have 10 days of fuel, we now have 20 days of fuel that we can store.’
