HES International has launched an Open Season for CO₂ export terminals in Rotterdam & Wilhelmshaven. The Open Season process gives all market participants an opportunity to secure future terminal future capacity at the Wilhelmshaven and Rotterdam CO₂ export terminals.
HES Wilhelmshaven Tank Terminal GmbH (also known as CO2nnectNOW) and HES Bulk Terminal Rotterdam are purpose‑built liquid CO2 handling deepwater terminals. The facilities will close a crucial gap in Europe’s carbon value chain by connecting onshore emitters directly to offshore permanent storage under the North Sea. With operations targeted from 2029, HES is providing industry with much‑needed certainty, flexibility, and a scalable pathway to reduce emissions at speed.
Key highlights:
- Combined capacity to scale up to 20 million tonnes of CO₂ per year
- Solutions that allow customers to start small and grow over time
- Access to certified storage sites in Norway, UK, Denmark, the Netherlands & Germany
- Built on HES’ decades-long record of safe, reliable terminal operations
As Otto Waterlander, director New Energies at HES International, highlights: ‘These projects are unique in accelerating the permanent decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries while reducing CO₂ early, even in the absence of sufficient alternative low‑carbon fuels.’
The Open Season is now live for expressions of interest until 24 April: https://lnkd.in/eJUMTsUP
