The Global Tank Storage Awards of 2025 once again illuminated the industry’s brightest stars, with a dazzling ceremony held on 10 March in Rotterdam. The event saw 200 esteemed professionals from the terminal sector gather to honour the most innovative and impactful contributions of the past year.

Celebrating the 20th anniversaries of both Tank Storage Magazine and StocExpo, this year’s awards featured three brand new categories to highlight the importance of collaboration across the full value chain as the industry moves towards the energy transition.

The evening kicked off recognising individuals for their contributions, before moving on to recognise companies and technologies.

The Outstanding Achievement category was topped by Alfred de Jong of LyondellBasell, who earned Gold for his exceptional leadership in marine, terminal, rail, and truck management. Stephanie Nolan of Square Robot received Silver, and Gregory Emmenis of Storage Terminals Magazine was awarded Bronze. The felt that Alfred exhibits exemplary leadership and commitment, having created significant improvements in at least three very different and distinct areas of terminal management.

Rising stars were also recognised, with Akansha Gupta of Emerson taking Gold, Kelvin Ling of Advario winning Silver, and Dominic Marshall of Ferrous Protection earning Bronze, all showcasing remarkable potential and leadership.

In the Drones & Robotics Solution category, Energy Robotics soared to Gold, Square Robot secured Silver, and CLIIN Robotics took Bronze, all for their cutting-edge technological advancements. The judges were particularly impressed by Energy Robotics’ AI-driven insights, on top of the minimal human intervention needed.

Sticking with the safety theme, the night moved on to the first infrastructure event: Health & Safety Excellence. For this category, VTTI Malaysia – ATT Tanjung Bin took home the Gold, Vopak Deer Park Terminal USA took Silver, and Axfaltec (part of Aquarius Energy) won Bronze.

The Emerging Technology award was captured by Texplor Group with Gold for their Multi-Sensor Monitoring System, Mesa ETP with Silver for FlexCore, and ETS Group with Bronze for their mobile vapour combustion units and air purification systems. The judges were impressed by how Texplor’s entry hit the criteria bang on, commenting that while continuous monitoring has been something “about to take off” for decades, this could genuinely be the time for it.

Digital Transformation Solution accolades were awarded to UAB-Online with Gold, Tank Terminal Management System by ToolKitX GmbH with Silver, and Shared Reality by Samp with Bronze.

Safety Technology was up next, topped by Square Robot Inc. with Gold for their SR-1 & SR-3: Autonomous Submersible Tank Inspection Robots, Diamond Key International Group with Silver for Omega Digitz Terminal HSE Digitalization, and Zuva Petroleum (part of Aquarius Energy) with Bronze for their Electronic Tier 1 Self Verification Assessment.

In a first-ever for the awards, SPSE was named the Best Overall Logistics Provider, winning Gold, while Varo Energy and LyondellBasell followed with Silver and Bronze, respectively, for their exceptional logistics services. This brand new category highlights infrastructure companies working to become logistics partners across the whole energy value chain.

The hugely-popular Industry Game-Changer award was clinched by Gordium with Gold for its AI-powered process hazard assessment software for tank terminals, ROSEN Group with Silver for their Tank Bottom Inspection Service (TBIT Ultra), and Louis Dreyfus Armateurs with Bronze for FRESH (Floating Renewable Energy Solution with Hydrogen and Ammonia).

The Customer Service Award shone brightly with LBC Tank Terminals taking home the Gold, Cool Sorption securing Silver, and Ferrous Protection holding Bronze. The judges felt that LBC Tank Terminals ARA demonstrated a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence, with impressive improvements in Net Promoter Scores across its terminals.

In the award for Diversity, Equality & Inclusion scheme, Advario led the charge with Gold, followed by Vopak with Silver, and Baker Hughes with Bronze, all demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering inclusive work environments.

The brand-new for 2025 Ammonia Infrastructure Project of the Year saw Vopak Exolum Houston grab Gold, LBC Tank Terminals Vlissingen take Silver, and VTTI secure Bronze, highlighting their pioneering work in ammonia storage and handling.

Environmental Performance was led by ETS Degassing with Gold for their mobile vapour combustion units, Cool Sorption with Silver for Vapour Recovery, and SDT Ultrasound Solutions with Bronze for the CRY8120 Series. With an efficiency of 99.9% this degassing technology really wowed the judges, who noted that the tech plays a vital role in emission reduction and regulatory compliance.

Sponsored by UAB-Online, the Terminal of the Future award went to e-fuels Rotterdam for Gold, VTTI Malaysia – ATT Tanjung Bin for Silver, and LBC Tank Terminals Rotterdam for Bronze, each recognised for their forward-thinking approaches to the industry’s evolution. The judges heralded e-fuels Rotterdam as a groundbreaking initiative that positions itself as a major player in the energy transition. By focusing on sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF), green hydrogen, and ultra-low carbon fuels, this terminal is directly contributing to Europe’s decarbonisation goals.

Congratulations to all the winners and nominees who continue to drive excellence and innovation in the tank storage industry. The full list of winners is a testament to the sector’s dynamic progress and commitment to a safer, more efficient, and sustainable future.
