While the company running the port, known simply as Port of Amsterdam, saw the share of fossil fuels in shipping cargo decrease considerably during the pandemic, a slight increase is expected in the short term. But the overall share of fossil fuels is forecast to fall in the long term. This presents Port of Amsterdam with a choice: Stick with the familiar and still thriving fossil fuels business or actively pursue a future-proof energy transition?
