COLLABORATION IS KEY TO THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Port of Amsterdam has focussed on getting all its businesses on board with its plans to become a climate-neutral, 100% sustainable port by 2050 The Port of Amsterdam is a leading energy port. Recognised as the world’s largest gasoline port, it has an unrivalled infrastructure as a fuel hub. While the company running the port, known simply as Port of Amsterdam, saw the share of fossil fuels in shipping cargo decrease considerably during the pandemic, a slight increase is expected in the short term. But the overall share of fossil fuels is forecast to fall in the long term. This presents Port of Amsterdam with a choice: Stick with the familiar and still thriving fossil fuels business or actively pursue a future-proof energy transition? Port of Amsterdam has made a conscious choice for the latter. It is leveraging its existing infrastructure and building new collaborations to bring about an energy transition and a future-proof renewable energy supply chain.
