The Storage Outlook 2023/24: Port of La Nouvelle

A selection of port authorities and operators share their insights as to what might lie ahead for the energy sector in 2024. Here’s what Laurent Mouille from the Port-La Nouvelle has to say… Located south of Narbonne, France, Port-La Nouvelle is a Mediterranean commercial port currently undergoing an important phase of development with the construction of a new deep-sea infrastructure, part of which will be dedicated to the development of liquid bulk. The port area will be multiplied by 3.5, going from 60 hectares to 210. There are currently 30 metropolitan ports in France and Port-La Nouvelle ranks number 15 today, prior to increase its activities with the ongoing port expansion. Port La Nouvelle is the property of the Regional Council of Occitanie and the Port is managed by a semi-public company called SEMOP. The SEMOP is owned by 49% of public stakeholders and 51% by a private consortium of investors. This makes Port La Nouvelle the first French sea-port to be privately managed.
