A large fire has erupted at an oil depot in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine after Russian forces attacked the depot, launching missiles that hit the base.

An air alert was announced in the region when the explosions were heard. The previous day, Russian forces launched an attack of two missile strikes on the Kryvyi Rih district. Governor Vilkul has confirmed that large stock of fuel has been destroyed, and firefighters are at the location working to stop the fire outbreak.

According to initial reports, the fire was first seen at 9:37 am (local time), approximately an hour after the oil depot was first under attack by Russian forces.

Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky has emphasised how there will be fair punishment and retribution for each missile strike Russia has carried out. Zelensky has stressed that no one will be able to hide and says: ‘We will continue to liberate our Ukrainian land step by step. It is impossible to break us.’

The amount of confirmed casualties is yet to be announced.

The conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues, having first developed in February 2022.
