Global specialty chemicals company, LotteFine Chemicals is due to receive a blue ammonia shipment from petrochemical company, Saudi Basic Industries Corp Agri-Nutrients (SABIC AN) via vessel this December. The shipment of blue ammonia is a low-carbon alternative to conventional grey ammonia and the shipment will consist of about 25 kilometre-tonnes (KMT) of accredited blue ammonia.

This will be the world’s first commercial shipment of independently certified blue ammonia and will be dispatched from Saudi Arabia to Ulsan, South Korea, representing a new milestone in the development of decarbonisation solutions.

CEO of SABIC Agri-Nutrients, Abdulrahman Shamsaddin says: ‘This shipment is another milestone in our journey toward carbon neutrality.’

‘We are delighted to enter this meaningful agreement with our long-term supplier, SABIC Agri-Nutrients, to receive the world’s first certified blue ammonia cargo. We believe that this shipment of blue ammonia will help lay the foundations for a global supply chain,’ says Yong Suk Kim, LFC CEO.
