A tank caught fire when lightning struck on 4 June at the Calcasieu Refining Company in Louisiana, USA. The company refines, operates a pipeline and runs a barge transfer facility for oil products. The tank that was struck contained naphtha, a highly flammable product.

No injuries were reported but evacuations and shelter orders were put into place. The Louisiana State Police have said that response crews will remain on site for several days to monitor the damaged tank and product to ensure public safety.
