Christian Amedee tells Tank Storage Magazine how everything came together for NOLA Oil Terminal on the Mississippi in Louisiana, US
NOLA Oil Terminal, on the banks of the Mississippi in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, US, will be the first terminal in the region capable of handling New-Panamax and Suezmax vessels, up to 1,200’ (366 m) long and up to 170,000 DWT. Construction recently began on the 10 million bbl oil and refined products terminal, and Tank Storage Magazine spoke to chief operating officer Christian Amedee to find out about the progress on the state-of-the-art development project.
A STRATEGIC LOCATION
One of the most important aspects of the new terminal is its location. The Mississippi, Amedee explains, is essentially spilt into three sections, with a lower river, the centre part of the river, and the New Orleans to Baton Rouge section. The main bridge in New Orleans, located at mile marker 100, marks the traditional limit for tank farms and other major infrastructure.
